Is Contomi free?
Yes — splitting bills with friends is free, no account required to get started. We may add a paid tier later for power features (like exporting receipts to expense reports), but the core split flow will always be free.
Does Contomi handle the actual money transfer?
No. Contomi calculates who owes what; you settle up however you normally do — Venmo, Cash App, bank transfer, cash. We just hand you a clean number per person so the transfer is one tap, not a spreadsheet.
What happens to photos of my receipts?
Receipt images are processed on-device when possible. If we need to upload them for OCR, they're encrypted in transit and deleted from our servers as soon as the items are extracted — typically within seconds. We never sell or share receipt data.
Does it work offline?
Mostly. You can scan, drag, and split without a connection — splits sync to the cloud (and to other people in the group) when you're back online. Receipt OCR works offline on most modern phones.
Which currencies and countries are supported?
USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, and a growing list of others. We support tax and tip conventions for most US states, the UK, EU members, and Australia. If your local format isn't quite right, drop us a note — we add new ones routinely.
Do my friends need to install Contomi to settle up?
No. You can share a split as a link, image, or message — friends see what they owe and can settle through their preferred payment app. They only need Contomi if they want to scan and split their own bills.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Settings → Delete account. We remove your data within 30 days. If you don't have access to the app for any reason, email hello@contomi.app from the address on the account and we'll process it manually.
Can I split a bill unevenly?
Yes. Drag any item onto multiple people to split it; tap an assignment to weight it (e.g. "Sam had two glasses, Maya had one"). Tax and tip are then split proportionally to what each person actually ordered.
